Do victims of sihr only react to verses to do with sihr
Q0080: Assalamu'alaikum, If you have have had sihr done on you, do you only react to the verses of sihr or would you also react to a simple ruqya without the verses of sihr (i.e. fatiha, ayat ul kursi, last two verses of baqara, 3 times last three surahs). Jazakum Allah khair
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Wa alaykum as salam.
Jazak Allah khair for your question. It's a very good question. There is a subtle difference but I will break it down so it's easier to understand. If a person is only affected by sihr and not jinn then you will only react to verses of sihr (not other parts of the Quran).
Namely
It is important to remember that to make sure the ruqya is effective you must have intention of doing ruqya to break or undo the magic. Hence in some cases a person could hear these verses being recited but have no effect on them because the recitation was not with the intention of attacking the magic.
In majority of the cases, if there is magic there will also be jinn because its simply a much more effective and quicker way of achieving their goal. So if the goal is to make a husband and wife divorce then she will not only feel angry when ever he comes into the room but the jinn will accompany that feeling with reminders of unpleasant experiences she may have had with him. Also it may influence her to be abusing towards him thus 'adding fuel to the fire' .
On the other hand if there is only jinn inside the body but no magic then the ayat of sihr will have very little effect on the jinn. So that is to say if the verses of sihr are recited (with the intention of affecting the sihr) it will have no affect on the jinn.
Sometimes the shaytan will react to Surah Baqarah 2:102 because it discusses prophet Sulayman (alayhi salam) and the disbelief of shayateen. It's important for raqis to pay attention to this verse because there maybe no magic but just a shaytan inside reacting to this verse. Hence a raqi should recite all the verses pertaining to sihr before concluding it is magic.
Another way to check if it is shaytan is to do the azan. Shaytan react strongly to the azan. They will either shake a lot or scream or get angry etc.
To summarize magic only reacts to verses of magic when recited with the intention of ruqya.
