Nightmares of jinns and baby crying
Q0011: I keep getting a dream of either being possessed or there is a Jinn around me, each time I have a jinn dream my baby will scream and cry same time, what could this mean?
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
All praises are due to Allah and peace and blessings be upon our beloved messenger.
The dreams that we experience are of three general types.
(1) From Allah (azza wa jall)
These are good dreams that come either in the form of a warning or good news. If the dream involves seeing oneself facing the consequences of ones bad actions, such as being dragged to the Hell fire then it is a warning and a prelude to what is to come if one does not change his or her ways.
This is in fact a mercy and blessing from Allah (azza-wa-jall) especially if it causes a person to become closer to Allah by praying, and practicing Islam properly.
You may see a good dream for examples yourself enjoying the blessings of Jannah. This is a a form of good news that is to encourage you to do good deeds and the consequences of being steadfast upon the correct understanding and practices of Islam. It should not be taken as a guarantee that you will enter paradise or a means to become lazy and neglect your obligations.
(2) From our own mind
This is a dream caused by what we experience in our day to day lives- such as a visit to McDonald might lead to a dream in which you see a McDonald's cheese burger chasing you and trying to eat you. The dream is just nonsense, a product of the subconscious mind and should be ignored.
(3) From the shaytan (satan)
Finally, the third type of dream is in fact a nightmare from shaytan. Nightmares are one of the tools of shaytan that he uses to affect the human beings, particularly Muslims. The shayateen (satans) might have a specific purpose or they might do so because they get pleasure out of doing so as they are sick and twisted in their nature.

These nightmares can be caused by the kareen* or a jinn that is outside the body (external jinn).
If it from the kareen then it is usually to upset you. You should spit three times (without saliva) to your left, seek refuge in Allah and ignore them.
The general advice that you come across, is to avoid mentioning bad dreams or to ignore them. I do not believe these apply in your because I do not think this nightmare is caused by a kareen but an external jinn.
To get rid of this problem we need to focus on getting rid of this jinn that is bothering you.
The fact that both you and your baby are being affected at the same time shows that it is an external jinn giving you both nightmares.

Practical Advice
These next few points are based on a few hadith.
Every night before you go to sleep
This was cause any jinn in your room to leave.
Additionally you should read Ayat al Kursi and the last two verses of Surah Baqarah with the intention of protecting the house. This will prevent the jinn from coming back into your house all night.

Ash hadu an-na Muhammadar rasulul-lah,
hayya 'alas, salah,
hayya 'alas salah,
hayya 'alal falah,

Allahu Akbar; Allahu Akbar,
La ilaha illal lah.'
Every night before you go to sleep
- Close your bedroom door saying "bismillah"
- Then open the window slightly (approximately 10-15 cm) all the the azan** out, in a medium to loud volume, not a quite voice.
